What is Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) ?

I wonder if the fact which I found in campus, that:

Some of my friends still do not know what Millennium Development Goal is.

Is it a little awkward, isn’t it? This issue (MDG) has been a profound interest in global worlds now. For the young generations who will lead the world of tomorrow, still do not know this momentous issue, is such a discordant thing happened in the line of juvenile efflorescence.

As a reason of problematical  above, I will post (re-post actually) what is or (in this case) what are those Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) divided in? Sourced form Wikipedia.org :

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight international development goals that all 192 United Nations member states and at least 23 international organizations have agreed to achieve by the year 2015. They include eradicating extreme poverty, reducing child mortality rates, fighting disease epidemics such as AIDS, and developing a global partnership for development.

In points, those 8 goals that would be achieved in 2015 are:

Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger

Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education

Goal 3: Promote gender equality and empower women

Goal 4: Reduce child mortality rate

Goal 5: Improve maternal health

Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases

Goal 7: Ensure environmental sustainability

Goal 8: Develop a global partnership for development

Most of countries all over the world have been doing the movement to achieve these MDGs. Like a quote from the former Secretary General of UN:

It is not in the United Nations that the Millennium Development Goals will be achivied. They have to be achieved in each country by the joint efforts of the Governments and people.

Kofi Anan – Secretary General of United Nations.

So well, the movement are not waited for the upper people to do that. Yet the youths, the key of change, are the main role play model to go to the get the world better. It’s all starts from us, from now, from this second while our blood still flows through our artery intravenously.

Give me 10 youths, and I will change the world

Soekarno – First Presiden of Indonesia
